December 2020, before the rain, a most beautiful sunrise.
No photos would do this one justice, as no summary would capture 2020 for one much less all of us, nor whatever we may think to expect from 2021.
We know Charlotte and I have been lucky in spite of our own challenges, and lucky to spend some of it with this broad view, in darkness and light, in quarantine, work, worry and dream.
We know 2021 will not be easy, but take solace believing the collective we will grow thru this trial, the temporal shift, not-knowing and grief.
We feel lucky to have hope, to feel compassion building, to recognize the importance of relationship, to look forward to the simple gatherings and the perversely beautiful yet to come.

Nathan: Lovely to be ‘who’s that guy?’ next to Charlotte on the panel at the presentation of her work with Simon Fraser University. More and most lovely to get to see Charlotte excited and creating work and discussing the process - so much fodder in these times... on time, and patience, and dimensionality, and the nature of creating and editing physical work in digital space.

Charlotte is creating two new dance on camera pieces this fall besides the ones for NOW-ID.
One on her students at TTU and one on the students at SFU, Vancouver. #danceonfilm #sitespecificart#contemporarydance
One was a commission for Simon Fraser University in Vancouver and the second was a film project that she created on and with her students at TTU.

Stunned and saddened to hear our dear friend, and a dear spirit-friend to some of our closest, passed away yesterday. Dave Starks had a wit, comfort, joy and openness that we will miss deeply. Dave made work for our very first show, several pieces for our yard, a line of full scale figures in steel inspired by Charlotte’s choreography (so I heard), anatomically correct-ish human buttresses, touch lamps and so, so much more. A beloved human and artist, we cannot stand that he is gone, and send love to Nancy and all those whose lives he touched.
We are almost done with our second Dance on Film project.
Still editing.
As Stephen King famously said: “To write is human, to edit is divine”!

We are working on a new piece for our Dance on Film series. Here are a few moments from yesterday’s shoot.
More to come.
